We are familiar with the basic MacBook Air with a 13-inch display screen. Apple has been sticking to this only size for the MacBook Air ever since 2009. Since the discontinuation of the 13-inch models in 2015, the 13-inch versions are the only options for users. Rumors have been suggesting that a larger MacBook Air will be released later this year.

According to a source, a new MacBook Air series will come out in the second quarter of 2023. Seemingly, Apple is developing the third second Apple silicon which is the M3 chip. Previously, Apple introduced to the market the M1 and M2 chips which are featured on the MacBook Air M1 (2020) and the MacBook Air M2 which just came out in July last year.
An upcoming major event of Apple is Apple’s annual developers conference WWDC in June. The latest MacBook Air M2 was also launched at the WWDC last year and came to stores starting from July. The source states that Apple is now developing display panels for a larger 15-inch MacBook Air. It also suggests that the earliest of the launching will take place in April.

Since the release of the Apple silicon, the MacBook Air models have been more powerful and the performances have been improved very greatly. Therefore, the MacBook Air is now no longer a low-cost option with limited capacity. Now, these models might complete heavier tasks that previously, users are not recommended to do with the Air series.
Currently, Apple is now planning for both a new 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook Air. However, there is not yet an official announcement or confirmation. We will have to wait for a little longer to find out whether the rumors are true or not. Previously, another source also shared that the new M3 chip is now under development as well as a new iMac model. If the rumors are true, this is going to be the very first larger MacBook Air that we will get to witness. Expectedly, there will be more spaces to work, study and entertain. It would be similar to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus situation. Which means that you would have a larger version of a less powerful device. However, it does not mean that the device is not powerful.
